I came across a set of fog lights that I think would be a correct dealer option for my 1938 woody I was wondering if any one could confirm this for me before I try to purchase?

Might you post a photo of the top of the bucket. On proper '38 road lamps, there should be the Ford script within a circle - stamped in that area. Above the circle "deluxe" is stamped in very small letters. "USA" is stamped just below the circle, again, in very small letters. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the top but I don't believe they are. I think they are just branded unity

I have a set on my '38 similar to those. No "Ford" logo, just Unity. They are the pre-sealed beam lights.

38woody, my '38 has a set of Unity foglights. They were on the car when I purchased in '16 and when the former owner purchased the car in '02. Hence I am not sure of the origin. Dealer installed option? Aftermarket owner purchase? Whichever they really assist with night driving. They remind me of WWII blackout headlights.

Guys, 38woody was inquiring as to what is CORRECT for his '38. Neither of you (40coupe, dream38V8) have the correct lamps. And, it appears the lamps 38woody is contemplating the purchase of are not correct either. Ray, your road lamps are not even close to correct. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Yes I'm looking for what is correct I currently have sealed beam repops on the car but would love to find some originals that would of been an option from the dealer when bought new. Also you guys that do have them what do you do about the extra power demand my 3 brush generator will not keep up with the current lights the Amp needle drops way into the negative?

The correct lamps are scarce. More rare in fact than the '40 style, which are themselves tough to find. Here's a the best photo I could find. This (one of two) I'd restored for a '39 convertible restoration I'd done a few years back. It (photo) should help a bit towards finding correct lamps. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Mike, I understand my foglights are not correct. All foglights I've seen have either a clear or amber lens. Mine are the only combo clear / amber pair I've seen.

Some years ago Bob Drake reproduced the road light with the large oval and Ford script. Original lights have a square head set screw on the steel base. The set screw prevents the bolt holding the light to the mounting from coming loose. The reproductions do not have provision for the set screw.
