Club History - A Legacy of the Flathead V-8 Enthusiast Community

Celebrating 62 Years of Years of Passion for the Ford Flathead Ear

The Early Ford V-8 Club of America was founded in 1963 in San Leandro, California. Originally organized around the 1932-1940 Ford flathead V-8 vehicles, the club expanded its scope in 1972 to include the 1941-1948 Ford models. By 1982 the club had broadened further to embrace all Ford Motor Company vehicles built from 1932 through 1953, including Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, commercial vehicles and tractors - plus any Ford-powered vehicle built worldwide.

Today, with over 9,000 members and 125 active regional groups worldwide, the Early Ford V-8 Club continues its core mission: restoration, preservation and enjoyment of these mid-20th-century vehicles.

Why We Stand Apart

Our scope is expansive: vehicles from 1932-1953, covering a wide range of Ford's flathead engines - from 4-, 6-, 8- and even 12-cylinders built by the company.

We produce an award-winning, bi-monthly magazine - The V-8 Times - delivered around the globe. You'll find restoration articles, shop tips, Q&A with experts, nostalgia pieces, regional group news, member classifieds, and unique restoration manuals.

Our club hosts three major national meets each year (Eastern, Central and Western) and a Grand National every 5 years. Members bring their vehicles - restored to "just as Henry built them", original, or touring-ready - to be judged or simply enjoyed in the company of fellow enthusiasts.

Join a Global Network of Enthusiasts

Whether you own an authentic flathead-equipped Ford, Lincoln or Mercury (or simply appreciate these remarkable machines), you'll find a home with us. Our members range from seasoned restorers to casual touring enthusiasts.

We encourage you to be part of the legacy - preserve the spirit of the early Ford V-8 era. Become a member today and access exclusive resources, nationwide events, and a community dedicated to driving, preserving, and celebrating these historic cars.
