Many years ago while working at a gas station with some older mechanics who grew up on farms, I learned that their method for reducing the noise from leaf springs was to squirt some brake fluid on them.

The manufacturer said no lubrication was needed, but I still had the noise. I found that a small amount of silicone spray worked wonders without harming the rubber. Just be sure to use it sparingly and avoid overspray on other parts. I also talked to a local expert who suggested checking if the shackles are properly aligned or if there’s any debris causing the noise. Sometimes a quick check can help. If you’re still stuck, a service like https://portlanddoorsandlocksguy.com/garage-door-service-portland/garage-door-opener-repair/ might have additional tips.

The original style shackles should not make noise unless they need to be replaced. Between the center steel pin and the outer steel jacket is layer of special insulation. If the insulation is worn through the two steel parts can touch causing noise.

Have a similar problem with a car i recently bought..... an older restoration. Plan to remove the springs but wanted a temporary remedy. I used Kroil penetrating lubricant and have reduced the spring, shackle, and shock link squeaking until i can disassemble and lube properly.

Trjford8 I think that line is pretty funny. I might even use it some day. But not in print! I agree with you, its inappropriate here. Sophomorish. Like the big plastic testicals I sometimes see hanging below the back of pickup trucks. Chuckled a bit first time I saw that, but most of us stopped doing stuff like that when we got out of high school.

GB is the Green Bible and the springs/shackles are original, sounds like a chirping bird. Gonna give the silicone spray a go, thanks for the replies.
