I recently purchased a coupe trunk seal from Bob Drake. It fit great. I also saw upper corner retaining clip set. I looked at my car and cannot find holes in the sheet metal gussets on the body so there is no way to use them. Were these clips installed at certain factories? I would like feedback before I drill holes to use them. Thanks in advance for the replies.

James, The 44-52 body parts book does show P/N 11A-7244817 being used on 46-48 coupes in convertibles. It also shows the part was no longer available as of January of 1952. My 42 Ford coupe had the clips while my November of 1947 coupe built in Chester PA does not have them and like your car shows no evidence of any holes for them. What I don't have is any documentation of them being deleted at certain plants. The 42 body parts book shows them being attached with a screw, nut and washer like that is supplied in the reproduction kits. The 44-52 body parts book shows a number 8X 3/8 binding head sheet metal screw for attachment. Again, no paper trail showing if the 46-48 used the sheet metal screw or if it was a service part to eliminate the screw, nut and washer. Short answer, do what you feel comfortable with. If I were judging the car, it would be a very minor deduction if at all. John Kelley 46-48 advisor

James, I changed the trunk seal (Carpenter) on my late year built '46 Super Deluxe Coupe, and there were no holes or clips.
