This may seem simple to many of you, but I am wondering . I have an intake manifold off a 1951 ford and have been asked what the area below the carb mount with two openings running down into the block is for. There are two holes in the middle bottom of the manifold. There was oil seeping in there when we took it off. Just curious. Thanks. 42 OINK

Those two holes are to provide exhaust heat which speeds the warm up process and encourages fuel vaporization. They also aid in preventing carburetor icing under high humidity, low temperature driving conditions.
