Topic: Engine ID

  I have a 1946 Super Deluxe coupe.

See attached photo

The radiator hoses attach to the front of the heads, whereas I believe in 1946 they attached at the middle.
is there a fast and easy way to determine the year of my engine?

The numbers on the drivers side frame and top of the trans are no longer readable.

Thanks..

Your engine is not original to the car you have. The 8BA Flathead engine in your car dates from 1949 to 1953

Unless its from a truck then 1948 to 1953. Also the 8ba flathead was used in Canada in 1954.

The correct engine should have 59 A-B on the heads and the distributor down in front of the engine amongst other things. The 8BA engine swap was not unusual as a replacement engine.

Engines with 8BA markings on the cylinder heads were used from 1949 thru 1951. 1952 and 1953 Ford engines had cylinder heads with EAB markings on the heads.

On the manifold of my engine appear to be the numbers BA-8 RT
and on the cylinder head are the numbers 8 BA

Do they help you ID what year it is?
