Topic: 1935 Ford Cabriolet Windshield frame restoration

My 1935 Ford Cabriolet is in need of a windshield restoration. New glass and Frame I need help.

First how do you remove the frame and glass assembly. I believe that is held in place by the frame seal fitting over the body lip.? are there any screws securing it or is just the rubber seal holding it in place. Any photos available on how it is mounted on the body? Please adviseg. I of course have research this thoroughly to no avail.
My frames has a couple of rust bubbles in the bottom section so I would like to purchase a new chrome plated frame. Speedway and CW Moss advertise them but out of stock. They both stated that will receive them by the end of the year. Also contacted Windshieldframes.com and they do not make the Cabriolet frame. I might have to try and repair mine. When I remove it I will know the condition. I can repair the rust spots and chrome the frame. I have a shop that does my chrome plating that are first class. they might even repair the frame.
Any suggestion on who might make the frame?
Thank you

To remove the windshield frame on a cabriolet you first have to remove The wiper motor assembly. next you remove the header trim panel exposing the insides of the header. You now loosen the dash panel and lower it allowing access to the lower part of the cowl. You will now be able to see the 13 round head screws holding the windshield frame in place.. Each screw should have a shakeproof lockwasher. The approx location of these screws is shown in the color photo shown below. Once these screws are removed the windshield frame can be removed. Jon Anderson should now jump in, giving details on obtaining a replacement frame.

  Don
Thank you so much. Now is clear how to do it. I have removed the windshield wiper motor before and sent it to get refurbished. Also I did a complete restoration of the dash panel, new gauges and all. I did not pay attention to the windshield when I removed the dash panel. So now that you told me how to remove the windshield it is easy for me. Although I do not know how difficult it is to remove the dash panel since I installed an AC unit underneath. I will see when I start.
Thank you again

  Hi Jon
I will greatly appreciate your help. I will like to buy a new chromed windshield frame. I have been looking extensibly for one and could not find it. Speedway and CW Moss advertise them but out of stock. They told me will be available at the end of the year. I do not know how accurate that is. Also contacted windshieldframes.com and they do not make the frame for cabriolets. Other than that none in ebay or any other place.
Thank you for your response
