I am looking for the lengths of the power/ground leads of the 1941 Ford/Mercury radio. Philco radio.

Where does the wrapped ground lead exit the power lead, how long is it after it exits, and where does it connect to?

I have a 1941 Ford radio around here somewhere (but am not sure where it is to examine).

I can measure the lead on the 1940 radio, but I am not sure it is the same. There should be a fuse in the power lead.

The 1940 (and I think the 1941 radios) ground where to the top center o f the dashboard with a special nut (which supports the weight of the radio). The antenna connects to the center of this nut, which is insulated from the dash/ground.

Dennis Carpenter makes a repro of this nut:

I don't recall seeing a separate ground lead on the 1941 radio-I don't believe it had one (although one may have been added in the intervening 84 years to your radio). All of the images I can find on the internet show only the power lead.

There also should be two "J" shaped hooks with wing-nuts to restrain the front of the radio to the lip under the front of the dashboard.

The 41 power lead has a woven ground lead wrapped around it that is soldered to the inside of the case.

  I stand corrected sir.

Someone suggested that the ground wire may just be wrapped around the power wire to reduce static on the radio.
