Gentlemen, I have a 1949 Ford F-3 pickup with the flathead Ford V8 and the four speed non synchromesh transmission on the floor. Here is the problem, my aftermarket signal light switch wore out. Upon inspection I found the steering column moves (rotates) about 1/4 of a turn. That can't be normal. How do I tighten it back up? Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

Just above the steering box around the end of the column is a clamp, tighten the clamp (one nut and one bolt) with the column in the correct position. With the clamp loose it can be rotated around the end of the column to make the job a bit easier.

Hey 40 Coupe, Thanks for the good advice and the prompt response. Greatly appreciated. Also, looking at my 1st photo of the steering column, I see where the steer column goes through a clamp-like connector under the dashboard. It looks like a bolt should go through the hole in the clamp just above the steer column? Yes? Thoughts? Would that tighten up the steering column too? John
