Hi, I have an exhaust question. I have a 1953 Ford F100 with a Flattie V8 which I have owned for almost twenty years. Unfortunately, my exhaust manifolds have rusted away and I am faced with getting new exhaust. I bought a set of headers from Mid Fifty when they went out of business. Not sure what kind of mufflers sound best on a Flathead, Smithy, Porter, Flowmaster? I do like the sound of a Flattie with duals. Heard a 50 Ford car at Hershey one year, that sounded so good going away from the gate that I knew I wanted that sound some day. How many other pipes and hangers are needed etc.? I also think I would like the mufflers under the bed away from the cab. Many thanks. Jeff

Jeff, I'll gladly do all that for you at no cost to you. It'll take me about ten years or so, while that Golden Jubilee is in my garage, but I'll git er dun for you and you can get her back when I die. Maybe. Alan

Smithy Glass pack mufflers are a good choice for the mellow sound that is not too loud. One source for these that has the 22" long units in stock is Summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pte-h3010

Probably the best headers that you can buy for your Ford Flathead V-8 are made by Fenton. They are made of cast iron, fit most stock Ford applications, are essentially bulletproof and cutdown on under hood noise. One source for these is Speedway Motors. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Fenton-Ford-Flathead-V8-Cast-Iron-Headers-w-Gaskets,1726.html
