Topic: Late 1941 Mercury search

I am searching for someone that may have a late 1941 Mercury all original low milage car that I can ask questions about. I am trying to confirm the correct heads on the late model. I have looked at an very early model unrestored with 30k miles and it has the 81A heads on it. I am trying to confirm if they changed the heads on the late model. I am restoring one built in August of 1941.

This is what I have from a past V8 Times that Dan Krehbiel posted on the subject, had to believe that Ford would change to an 81A Head but I guess anything is possible?

I do not know what they would change the heads to.

As far as I know, the 39-40 Mercury used the 81T heads and the 41 used the 81A heads, according to the Service Bulletins. The 42 Mercury used the 29A heads.

I just looked at an all original 1941 Mercury with 30k miles on it. It seems the 41 and 42 Mercury is different than the 39/40. The early 41 had the 81A heads. Some say it should have 99T heads. This 41 had cast iron intake manifold.

In my research so far for 41 Mercury it looks like the very early 41 had 81T heads but very early they switched out the heads to 81A heads to increase the compression. I have never seen a Mercury with an aluminum intake manifold. All the ones I have seen so far only have one vacuum connection. The vacuum lines I have have and seen have a loop at the intake manifold end with another fitting that goes through it and screws into the intake manifold.

After more research it seems all 41 Mercurys used 81A heads.
