I just did an oil filter change in my 51 (8BA) . Drained oil from Pan and changed Oil Filter . Car had good oil pressure prior to this change. After filling oil with 20/50W and Filter change started car and pressure slowly started to rise but then oil blowing out of oil filter cover. I had the cover pretty tight. Shut motor off and waited to check oil level but none showing. Oil Pump seems to work ok but doesn't seem to be passing thru filter. and recycling to motor. Seems weird it could be a clog in line returning to oil pan, but hey, I have seen worse! Any hints, suggestions or VooDoo I can try?

You may not have gotten one of the two gaskets properly installed. Filters usually come with two different gaskets, to accomodate different brand canisters, but none come with gaskets for the top nut. A new top nut gasket can be cut from hard fiber. Alan

Two things: 1) did you install the oil filter cover gasket? After first coating it with oil on both sides. 2) add 5 quarts of oil? And one more item -- you DO really have to tighten the top oil filter bolt. I thought I had and when I stopped to check the oil after a run around the block, oil was dripping down the side of the canister because the bolt was not tightened enough. And I know you tighted the oil drain plug, after fishing it out of the drain container.
