When I first purchased my 1940 Ford Fordor Deluxe, I was just about to graduate from high school-that was 50 years ago. It took me about 48 years to finish it; being distracted by girls, model airplanes and helicopters, trains, phonographs, etc. Marriage, establishing a career, home ownership, and fatherhood took priority (as they should). The car was kept driveable almost the entire 50 years. Only in retirement did I actually have time to finish it, with the goal of having it done so that I could drive my son and his new wife away from the church when he got married last year. Over the years, the car has been a good, reliable vehicle, and has always been a pleasure to drive (I am still a firm believer that a stock 1940 Ford is the most reliable). The car was old and tired when I bought it for the princely sum of $1800.00 back in 1975. It was two tone at the time (battleship grey with large rust spots). Although the car has been restored and is effectively young again, it is I who am old and now need to be restored. I know that this is an amateur restoration job compared to what most of you have done, but it was a labor of love to try (as hard as I could) to get it right. Thank you to all on this forum who offered help and advice over the last few years. I could never have gotten this far without all of your help!

You did a beautiful job on that restoration. You did the research and asked a lot of questions to get it right. I would bet you got a lot of support from your family on this restoration in return for the support you gave them over the years. Great job.
