Question, does anyone know if there's a special tool used to remove/loosen the setscrew holding the lockset in place? Otherwise, how does one remove the lockset? Thank you, Taylor

An extremely difficult job. I was never successful in trying to drill out that set screw. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their method to remove it.

I do not know of any special tool. You will have to soak the screw with a good penetrating oil for a few weeks and then try to get it out. If you are going to repaint the door, you can use heat to help free up the screw. Tom

I'm bathing it in Superzillow, as we speak. Next thing I need to know is what the head size is of the slot scew/hex head? At some point, if I can get a grip on it, after several days of bathing with superzillow, it will hopefully release. I really need to know what head size tool is needed to get a grip on it. Thank You for the response. Taylor

You will note none of the holes you have shown in the photo are round any more. It appears someone has drilled out the original set screw with a straight screwdriver slotted head and replaced it with something else. Try a small slotted screwdriver or maybe an allen wrench Your going to have to decide.
